Interior designer Kathryn B. Adams lives and works by this mantra: Be creative, be inspired, believe in yourself…just be. Though she has more than two decades of experience in global residential, commercial, and hospitality design, Kathryn’s first exposure to interiors goes back to her childhood growing up in Rhode Island, when her family would often come home to find all of the furniture rearranged in their house. Since joining the Brown team, she has quickly put her design inspirations into motion, garnered from years of traveling and annual attendance at industry events. With eclectic taste and an eye for proportion, color, and art, Kathryn approaches each of her projects with keen attention to detail, whether designing new construction or a renovation, a luxury yacht or private aircraft. Kathryn specializes in the art of layering, as well as custom designing furniture and millwork—think colored cowhide rugs, mohair fabric benches with silver leafing, and coffered ceilings with inset grasscloths. She is an avid learner with Bachelor’s degrees in Fine Arts and Interior Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and has recently graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Rhode Island College, giving her a unique perspective when approaching her own creative process. Her designs span throughout Florida, New York, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Anguilla, St. Barth’s, the UAE, and Hong Kong, and her work can be found in the book, “Color in Small Spaces.” And above all else, she believes that every home should have a pair of Yorkies to love.
